These encased coins have a common reverse, the Hanrahans Saloon.
For a short time, there was a Hanrahan's Saloon in Adobe Walls, Texas,
which was named after James Hanrahan.
After the Indian attack on the community on June 26, 1874
the buildings were abandoned and the saloon was closed.
On the coin, Jerry Adams (Grizzly Adams) and his token collecting friend
"Hurricane" Bob Smith of Fort Worth, are listed as proprietors of the saloon.
The words "Hostetters Bitters" refer to a bottle which was found in Adobe Walls.
"Good For One Drink of McBrayer Whiskey" refers to the maternal family name
of Jerry Adams.
Jerry is a collector of (Post) Trader tokens.
"Alhambra Saloon" refers to a saloon in Dodge City, Kansas.
On the coin, Jerry (Curly Adams) is listed as the proprietor.
Keller, Texas is located just a few miles north of Fort Worth.
It is Jerry's place of residence.
"Good for 12 1/2 ¢ in Trade" means one bit, half of a quarter,
the cost of a shot of whiskey.
The "Bee Hive Saloon" was the biggest and most famous saloon in the town
of Fort Griffin.
Fort Griffin was located in Shackelford County north of Albany, Texas.
It was established in 1867.
Some more information about these coins can be found in the Tasmanian Numismatist of february 2007.
