De Efteling in Kaatsheuvel is een pretpark met sprookjes als onderwerp. Een sprookje gaat over een ezel waar gouden munten uit komen. Deze ezel staat daar ook, en de kinderen kunnen de munten die er uit komen oprapen. Deze munten worden Eftelingdukaten genoemd. Op zo'n Eftelingdukaat staat de afbeelding van een van de volgende sprookjes:

The Efteling in Kaatsheuvel is a theme park about fairy-tales. One fairy-tale is about a donkey who shits golden coins. This donkey stands there and the children can grab the coins which come out of the donkey. These coins are called Efteling Ducats (Efteling Dukaten). The pictures on the coins represent 10 fairy-tales of the Efteling:

Op de Dukaten staat het jaartal waarin ze uitgegeven zijn, maar na 2000 staat er geen datum meer op.
In 2002 is er een speciale Dukaat om de 50e verjaardag van de Efteling te herdenken:

Each year they have a different date, but after 2000 they don't have a date anymore.

In 2006 is er een groene Dukaat met de afbeelding van de ezel, omdat deze op 6 mei 50 jaar in de Efteling staat.
In 2006 there is a special green Ducat with a picture of the Donkey to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Donkey on Mai 6th.

In 2007 hebben de Dukaten een andere achterkant om de 55e verjaardag van de Efteling te herdenken:
